FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Both police officers and firefighters on Thursday responded to a home in the 300 block of Haltom Road in Fort Worth, where there were reports of an active shooter. This happened at about 11:00 a.m. not far from the intersection of Airport Freeway and Beach Street.

Police found themselves involved in a standoff with the suspect.

According to authorities, there were an unknown number of people barricaded inside of the building, located in a wooded area and surrounded by tall trees and thick brush.

The suspect reportedly set the house on fire. Video from the scene showed thick smoke pouring out of the building and the fire increasing in intensity. It did not take long before heavy flames were shooting from the roof of the home.

Firefighters could not start battling the flames until police assessed the situation and determined that it was safe. Workers did eventually start dousing the roof with water, but not before the structure suffered severe damage. Only the charred skeleton of the home remained.

There has been no word from police about what happened to the suspect or any of the other individuals who might have been inside of the home.
