CARROLLTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Police are on the scene of a deadly shooting in Carrollton.
After getting a report of shots fired, the Carrollton Police Department sent officers to an apartment complex in the 1100 East Vandergriff Drive, near Belt Line Road.
Officers responded just after midnight but didn't find anything. Police spent about 30 minutes at the scene and even talked to a few neighbors, but eventually found nothing and left the scene.
About an hour later, Carrollton police were notified by the Denton County Sheriff's Office that there had been a shooting in their city. A caller had reported to Denton authorities that an acquaintance had killed a man in Carrollton and fled the scene in the victim's vehicle.
Police were again sent to the apartment complex on East Vandergriff.
This time officers discovered a deceased male, with gunshot wounds, in one of the apartments. The victim is believed to be in his 50's.
The suspect vehicle was quickly located in Justin. Police there took a person in that vehicle into custody.
Back in Carrollton, investigators continued processing the scene and gathering evidence. The medical examiner was also at the scene.
Neither the name of the victim or the person arrested has been released. Police believe the victim and suspect knew each other and say there is no danger to residents in the area.
