FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A woman is found dead in a Fort Worth home and a man is fighting for his life at a local hospital, this after both were found shot Tuesday night.

It was just after 5 a.m. when the Tarrant County Medical Examiner removed the woman's body from the house in the 3700 block of Bee Tree Lane, just south of Altamesa Boulevard.

Police are still notifying family members and have not released the identity of either victim.

A neighbor said a badly injured man ran out of the house, bleeding and asking for help.

The shootings happened just before 10 p.m. and officers were still at the scene at lunchtime, gathering evidence and any clues. Chalk outlines, where police had placed evidence markers, could still be seen on the street.

Police were called to the house on a report of shots fired. Once there officers found the female victim and pronounced her dead at the scene. The male victim was badly injured and transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

At one point the front door of the house was open and a bouquet of pink and white balloons, with ribbon and streamers, could be seen inside. It's unclear if there was some kind of party or celebration at the home before the shooting.

Kim Johnson lives in the area and says she and her son didn't arrive home until late last night. "Had I come home any earlier, that could've been us in the crossfire. And I'm just like, I thank God I was late getting off work, getting him coming home, 'cause who knows - that could've been me and my son."

No word yet on what may have led up to the shooting. Police say they have very limited suspect description information. Homicide investigators with the Fort Worth Police Department are handling the case.
