Police Chase Goes From Fort Worth To Dallas

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A chase early Friday morning, that ran at speeds of up to 100 mph and stretched from Fort Worth to Dallas, ended after the suspect crashed in a stolen truck. The incident first started at about 3:00 a.m. as authorities in north Fort Worth were investigating a burglary.

Police were searching for a suspect when they attempted to stop a vehicle. The driver refused to pull over, however, starting a long high-speed chase in the overnight hours. The chase ran into downtown Fort Worth and then headed south to eastbound Interstate-20, passing through Arlington and Grand Prairie.

Officers were able to deploy spike strips along the highway. They did manage to get the truck's tires, but also took out the tires to two police cars. To make matters worse, the driver still did not stop.

The chase continued to Spur 408 and then Loop 12, into the side streets of west Dallas. It ultimately concluded when the driver crashed in the 4000 block of Tumalo Trail, not far from the Trinity River levees. The suspect hopped out of the truck and ran into the waters of the nearby Trinity River bottoms, but a Fort Worth police officer fished him out and took him into custody.
