Police Chase Garland Suspect Into Mesquite

GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) - Police from two North Texas cities were involved in a suspect chase on Wednesday night. The incident began at about 8:30 p.m. when authorities attempted to stop driver Eddiberto Hernandez for playing music too loudly.

Law enforcement officers from Garland first tried to stop the suspect in the 1400 block of Randolph Drive, but the driver sped away, making his way to Interstate-30 and traveling in the wrong direction along the highway for a short period of time.

A police helicopter found the suspect at a Walmart store located in the 7400 block of Samuell Boulevard in Mesquite, and the pursuit began again, this time lasting around an hour. Authorities with the Dallas County Sheriff's Department ended up arresting Hernandez and keeping him in custody. Officers from the Garland Police Department picked him up after 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday night.

Hernandez was charged with evading arrest. His bond will be set on Thursday. Nobody was injured during the pursuit.
