Police Chase Ends In Arlington Neighborhood
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - A quiet neighborhood in Arlington was buzzing after a police chase concluded there early Wednesday morning.
Deputies with the Dallas County Sheriff's Office attempted to pull over the driver because of an expired registration tag. However, the driver and his female passenger refused to stop, leading authorities on a high-speed chase that lasted about an hour. The chase started in Arlington, went through Grand Prairie and Mansfield, and ultimately ended back in Arlington.
Sgt. Chris Dyer with the Dallas County Sheriff's Office said that the vehicle is believed to have been stolen over two weeks ago.
The white male driver -- identified as 24-year-old Michael Scott Combs -- bailed out of the vehicle along Florence Street, where he knows one of the neighborhood's residents, Dyer said. Police began a 30-minute search for Combs, and eventually found him hiding out in a home. The homeowners helped police locate Combs and take him into custody. He has been charged with evading arrest, but more charges could soon follow.
Combs has been arrested once before, in August 2009, again for evading arrest in a motor vehicle.
The white female passenger was found hiding underneath a car nearby. She was not charged with any crimes, and was released from police custody after questioning.
