Plea Deal Could Spell Trouble For Price

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Prosecutors in Dallas could have more ammunition on Wednesday in their case against Dallas County commissioner John Wiley Price, even though Price is not the one expected to appear in court.
Christian Campbell, a consultant, bolted into the federal courthouse on Wednesday. According to court records, he has reached a deal with the district attorney's office, which means that he will testify against Price. The commissioner faces bribery and tax fraud charges.
Campbell is expected to plead guilty to one count of bribery.
In court papers, Campbell admitted to paying Price's political consultant Kathy Nealy so that she would help companies win business contracts from Dallas County. Nealy then funneled some of that money to Price, who voted to approve the contracts to businesses Campbell consulted.
Now, as part of the plea deal, Campbell would get no more than three years in prison and would have to pay restitution in exchange for his help to prosecute Price and Nealy. The judge in this case still has to sign off on the deal. That is not expected to happen on Wednesday.
Price and Nealy have both pleaded not guilty, along with Price's assistant, Dapheny Fain, who faces tax charges in this case. Price's trial is scheduled to being in January.
