Plans Revealed For Soccer Hall In North Texas

FRISCO (AP) - Construction will begin next year for the new U.S. National Soccer Hall of Fame and Museum in North Texas.
The U.S. Soccer Federation and FC Dallas revealed plans Wednesday for the 24,000-square-foot museum that will become home to memorabilia and trophies such as the Women's World Cup, Gold Cup and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup trophies.
Toyota Stadium will also become the permanent site for the annual National Soccer Hall of Fame induction ceremony. No other major national sports hall of fame museum is built into a stadium.
Established in 1950 and long located in Oneonta, New York, the Hall announced its closing in January 2010. The archives have been stored since then.
The North Texas stadium was built by the late Lamar Hunt, a 1982 inductee into the National Soccer Hall of Fame and one of only three individual recipients of its Medal of Honor.
