Plano's Legacy West Enters Final Months Of Construction
PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - Legacy West development in Plano is one of the most ambitious real estate projects in North Texas.
The project promises to alter the North Texas skyline forever with the tallest buildings in Collin County.
Developer Fehmi Karahan is in the driver's seat of the massive Legacy West project. In just a few months, future employees of corporations relocating to Plano and anyone else who wants to visit will fill the parking garages.
"Rather than wondering which floor is full or not, you're going to know exactly what floor to go, and when you get to that floor, you're also going to notice where the most available green lights are," Karahan said about the garages' guidance system.
If you forget where you have parked, a network of cameras will help you find that lost parking spot. It's a sprawling urban village designed for people to live, work, and play.
Above the ground level retail sits more the 350,000 square feet of office space and 800 apartment units. Some of that space is already finished with the rest planned to be ready for the Grand Opening in March. Then in October, a European-style food hall with 20-plus restaurants under one roof will open on the northern end of the development, and it's attracting some of the top chefs in the region.
"Many chefs very successful their own way in their own restaurants, but they have a unique idea that they want to express and try," Karahan said.
The next two years will see two 19-story towers from Liberty Mutual, a 24-story condominium tower, and a 30-story apartment building that will be the tallest in Collin County.
"I'm looking forward to be in one of those high rises and looking south and be able to say, wow, I played a role building all these," Karahan said.
In case you were wondering how high buildings could go in the area, Karahan says airport regulations could allow as high as 87 stories, but because there's plenty of land available in Collin County, you're unlikely to see anything much higher than 30 stories in the next few years.
