DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- The elusive 'evening burglar', who Plano police says is behind more than twenty home break-ins in its city, appears to have now struck a Dallas neighborhood.

In the past week and a half, seven homes in the Midway Meadows neighborhood in far North Dallas have been burglarized.

Sunday, the neighborhood's crime watch director, Steve McClure, handed out flyers alerting neighbors of the recent unusual criminal activity.

"This is not a crime of opportunity," said McClure. "This is someone that does this for a career."

As has been the case in the Plano burglaries, in all seven burglaries in the Midway Meadows neighborhood, the suspect broke-in sometime between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm after the homeowners had left for the evening.

The burglar stole mainly high-end jewelry and cash from the master bedroom – leaving behind electronics and less-expensive jewelry.

The Gifford's home on Granbury Road was broken into last Friday evening.

"We keep reminding each other that it was just stuff but we can't help but feel violated," said Kathy Gifford.

Due to all the recent homer burglaries, Wednesday, Jan. 28, the Plano Police Department is holding a special crime prevention class on how to better protect your home.

The class is open to the public and starts at 7:00 pm at city hall.
