Plano Police Fear Youth Group Leader Has More Abuse Victims
PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - The City of Plano may have directed kids to an organization headed by a man now accused of child indecency.
Two teenagers have come forward with disturbing allegations involving the leader of a group called "Teens Inspiring Youth."
Plano Police are so concerned about the possibility of more victims they are promoting a special phone number that could widen this investigation.
Daundre Douglas is free on bond, facing charges of molesting one teenager and exposing himself to another one.
"I think that he's sick," says one of the accusers. "I think he has a problem."
Both teens say they met Douglas at parks in Plano where they were recruited to join "Teens Inspiring Youth." Douglas is listed as a leader of that organization to help troubled kids, both on the group's website and his arrest affidavit.
Meanwhile, some of those Douglas mentored don't believe the allegations.
"I've never felt that he has pressured me into doing anything with him," says Amanda Young, one of Douglas' friends.
Chris Reaves agrees. "He really is a kind hearted man. He's very inspirational and something of this magnitude is just not in his nature."
However, Plano Police believe Douglas is a sexual predator with a criminal past, who has been recently convicted of trespassing at a Plano High School.

Despite his criminal background, Douglas was recruited by the City of Plano's Teen Court to "allow participants to carry out some of their community service hours" at his agency.
Douglas's friends say that letter and other documents prove "Teens Inspiring Youth" is a legitimate organization.
This arrest raises questions about community service organizations for teens and whether area courts are checking their backgrounds before recommending them.
