Plano Police Chief's Good Deed Goes Viral
PLANO (KRLD) -- It's not often that a public figure is praised for going above and beyond. But Plano Police Chief Gregory W. Rushin is receiving a heap of praise for doing what he describes as his job.
Chief Rushin was on his way home from a speaking engagement Tuesday night when he ran across three young ladies walking along the shoulder of northbound State Highway 75.
"It was cold out, and there was very heavy traffic and a very narrow shoulder there...so I pulled over and approached them and gave them assistance," said Rushin.
The Chief transported the group of girls to a gas station, pumped gas into a gas can, and returned the girls to their vehicle.
By the time they arrived, Plano Police had closed off the right-hand lane as a precaution. The group then continued on its way.
By Wednesday afternoon, the story went viral on the Plano PD Facebook page, which surprised Rushin.

"In public service, we all try to do what we can to keep the community safe and help and serve our community. We do this everyday. All of our officers do these type of things on a daily basis. Unfortunately, I don't think people realize this."
