Plano Police Arrest "Bathroom Camera" Suspect
PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - The man who Plano police suspect planted a recording device in a recreation center bathroom has been arrested.
Last week police had asked for help from the public in finding Christopher Scott Furber, whose identity they did not know at the time. Police arrested Furber Monday morning. The 43-year-old from Garland has been charged with Improper Photography or Visual Recording.
According to authorities, Furber put a camera inside the restroom at the City of Plano's Oak Point Recreation Center, in the 6000 block of Jupiter Road.
Workers at the center city's found a small video camera hidden inside what appeared to be a wall-mounted air freshener. The device had been placed inside a family changing room area that leads to a swimming pool. The fake air freshener was noticed by employees because it appeared to be out of place, low and near a shower.
Looking at the data recorded on the device, police were able to get a picture Furber and issued a $5,000 Crime Stoppers reward for information about the installation of the device or on the identity of the person captured by the camera.
Furber was taken into custody and held at the Collin County Detention Center. Later in the day he posted the $25,000 bond required for his release.
Police are still investigating the incident.
