Plano Man Molests Teen Relative, Sentenced To 35 Years
MCKINNEY (CBSDFW.COM) - Gregory William Lee, 43, of Plano, was sentenced to 35 years in prison on Monday for molesting a 16-year-old female for more than a year, according to Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis.
Lee was living in the same household as the victim. Just before she turned 16, Lee became increasingly affectionate with her and began asking her about boyfriends. When she turned 16, he started coming into her room, locking the door, and began sexually assaulting and threatening her on a regular basis. The victim would try to fight back, but Lee reacted by putting his hand around her throat or by putting a pillow over her face to muffle her screams.
Lee also threatened the life of the victim after he molested her. At one point, immediately after being molested by Lee, the victim told Lee that she wanted to kill herself. Lee handed her a gun and encouraged her to kill herself. He continued assaulting her until after she graduated high school.
After graduation, the victim joined the military and moved away. She cut off any communication with Lee, though she still spoke with her mother and younger brother at times. Around Thanksgiving of 2012, she learned that Lee was coming to visit her for the holiday. Terrified at the prospect of seeing him again, she talked to her superior officer about her fears and the abuse. Her superior reported the abuse, and the military began its investigation. Upon learning that the assaults occurred in Plano, the military investigator contacted Plano police. Detective Kristina McClain then conducted the investigation.
The jury returned a verdict of guilty on one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child and five counts of aggravated sexual assault of an adult (for the crimes that occurred after she turned 17).
After the jury's guilty verdict and with the blessing of the victim, Lee was sentenced per a plea agreement to 35 years for each of the aggravated sexual assaults. The sentences are concurrent, and Lee will not be eligible for parole until he serves 17 and 1/2 years.
Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Shannon Miller and Crystal Levonius prosecuted the case and were assisted by District Attorney Investigator Greg Bowers. Senior State District Judge James Fry presided over the case.
