PLANO (CBS11) - Plano Police are investigating a possible hit-and-run that has many witnesses shaking their heads in disbelief.

Michael Peal said he was pumping gas at a 7-Eleven on Wednesday when he watched in shock as a driver hit his SUV while his pregnant wife was inside.

Peal said the driver of the vehicle who hit his car then sped off.

But it is what Peal did while the wreck was happening that could change the outcome of the case.

"I was standing there in awe because, what are you doing? Don't you realize I have pictures of you?" said Peal.

After the car hit his SUV once, he got out his cell phone and started taking pictures. Peal did not think it would end the way he says it did at the 7-Eleven.

Peal took clear images of the driver, her car, her license plate and even her face.

"Of course that's going to make you panic," said Peal. "Not just the damage to the car, but the lives inside of it and outside of it. We're pumping gas at a gas station."

Plano Police said investigators feel they have more than enough to find the driver with all of the pictures and possible more security footage from the gas station.

Peal still does not understand why the driver did not just stop in the first place.

"What were you thinking? It's probably a few hundred dollars to fix something so small. Instead, you're going to risk having a criminal record now," said Peal.

Anyone with information about the incident should call Plano Police.
