Pitcher Clayton Kershaw In North Texas Challenging Students

NORTH TEXAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - First it was the ice bucket challenge. Now it's time for Kershaw's Challenge.
The Dodger Pitcher and two-time Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw kicked it off at Highland Park High School where he pitched before heading straight to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
140 boys are getting to play ball with Kershaw in exchange for taking Kershaw's Challenge.
Kershaw credits his pitching talent for helping him and his wife, Ellen, build a foundation which supports four charities -- two in Africa where they built an orphanage, Mercy Street here in Dallas, and the Cure in Los Angeles.
Now, he's challenging the North Texas boys to help him by doing what they do best. The boys are pledging to keep track of the number of books they read, baskets they shoot, touchdowns passes they throw -- whatever skill they choose.
In June 2015, they'll donate money or time to Kershaw's charities based on how successful they've been at their talent.
Kershaw teamed up with the boys, 140 strong, by joining forces with his 12-year-old neighbor, Hunter Kraus. Hunter's family runs Armour UP, a Dallas-based Christian organization which encourages these boys to serve their community.
