PETA Offering $5,000 Reward In Fatal Horse Neglect Case

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - As the investigation continues into who abandoned two severely underweight and abused horses in Seagoville, PETA is stepping up to try and help catch the animal abuse culprits.
It was on Halloween when officials in Dallas County got reports about two malnourished horse abandoned on the side Bilindsay Road. When police arrived they found two horses. One of the animals had with wounds around its neck believed to have come from being tied up for extended periods of time.
One horse was euthanized, and the other had been shot repeatedly at the scene -- in an apparent attempt to end its life.
PETA Vice President Colleen O'Brien said, "These horses were apparently abandoned to starve and suffer with protruding bones and painful wounds."
There has been an investigation into the incident but there have been no arrests.
Now PETA is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person/persons responsible for the abuse and neglect.
Anyone with information about the horses, the abuse, the abandonment or the individuals responsible is asked to contact the Dallas County Sheriff's Department at 214-653-3489.
