Perry To Fight Tolls on 161
The North Texas Tollway Authority wants to change part of Highway 161 in Irving to a tollway but they'll have to fight the Governor first. The three-mile free stretch connects the Highway 161 toll lanes in the south with the George Bush Turnpike, which is also a tollway. This week, the NTTA floated its plan to make the middle section a toll road, too, but the agency would need permission from the legislature. That's where Perry says he'll fight. In an interview yesterday, the Governor says "...they better find a way around me."
