Perry Criticizes Border Security To Group of Hispanic Ministers

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Governor Rick Perry took his border security criticisms to an audience of Hispanic ministers in San Antonio, telling them the federal government should put more Border Patrol troops on the ground and drones in the air to secure the Texas-Mexico border.

Perry has sparred with President Barack Obama over the recent flood of Central American children crossing the border.

On Saturday, he aired those grievances to the Libre Initiative, a religious group courting Hispanic voters to conservative candidates.

Perry, a Republican who is considering running for president, noted his recent visits to the border, where he said he saw hundreds of women and children make dangerous journeys to the U.S. border.

Federal officials say the flow of children crossing the border without parents has slowed in recent weeks.
