Perry In North Texas For Energy Bills Ceremony

DENTON (AP) - Governor Rick Perry will be in North Texas for a ceremonial signing of bills related to energy production and the environment.

On Friday morning he'll be at a manufacturing company in Denton, 40 miles northwest of Dallas.

One bill encourages companies to switch their heavy vehicles from diesel fuel to natural gas.

Companies will receive grants to buy natural gas-powered replacement trucks, or refit existing trucks to accept natural gas fuel.

Another bill requires drillers to publicly disclose the chemicals they use when extracting oil and gas from dense rock formations.

Since hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is used in more states, the disclosure issue has taken on national importance.

Texas was the first state to pass such a law when Perry signed the bill last month.
