People Rescued After Dallas Water Main Break

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Emergency crews responded to a water main break early Monday morning in Dallas. It happened at about 5:30 a.m. along the northbound Interstate-35E service road, in front of the Infomart.
A taxi van became stuck in the water and mud that gushed down the road. The vehicle's driver and passenger had to be saved by Dallas Fire-Rescue officials. This was a particularly dangerous situation, as temperatures on Monday morning had dropped well below the freezing mark.
The conditions of those two rescued individuals are not known.
Crews arrived quickly and were able to stop the fast water flow. The situation has been steadily improving as the water has been receeding. But it is still not known what could have caused the water main to break or how long it will take to repair the issue.
In the meantime, police and fire officials have shut down the northbound service road at Oak Lawn Avenue. There has been no word as to when the closed road might open to traffic once again. Check our traffic map for alternate routes.
