PD: Wanted Suspect Responsible For At Least 16 Robberies
NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Fort Worth believe one man is responsible for at least 16 aggravated robberies within city limits and across Tarrant County, since June. Now the department is asking for your help finding out who he is.
Since Sunday the suspect has robbed two separate Metro PCS stores, one in southwest Fort Worth and another in the north part of the city. In addition to Fort Worth, the man is believed to have robbed businesses in Arlington, Burleson, Mansfield, North Richland Hills and Pantego.
Police say the robber is always armed and very aggressive. In the past he has wasted no time drawing his weapon immediately after entering a business. Victim's lives are threatened during the robberies and they are always forced into separate areas of the business or made to lie down on the floor.
The man has used a number of different disguises during the robberies, including wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses and other costumes. "A construction vest and hard hat. He has been known to wear a cowboy-type outfit," Detective Stephanie Phillips explained. "He has dressed up as a floral delivery person, actually bringing flowers to one of the locations, in front of his face." During one robbery the suspect even wore a Groucho Marx mask, big nose and mustache.
Despite his attempts to mask his identity, police have a physical description of the man. He is believed to be Hispanic, between 30 and 40 years old. The suspect stands between 5'8" and 6 feet, has a slender build and has been seen with and without a goatee.
In the past the suspect has targeted check cashing businesses and Metro PCS stores. Fort Worth police are working with units in other cities to try and identify and locate the man who they warn is armed, extremely dangerous, and should not be approached. "So please," urged Fort Worth police spokesman Officer Cliff Miller, "anyone walking outside the stores, trying to be evasive, looking down, trying to avoid eye contact, these are the types of behavior we're asking you to recognize and contact us."
Anyone with information about the suspect or the robberies is asked to call 911, Fort Worth police at (817) 392-4370 or Crime Stoppers at (817) 469-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers tips can also be made online at 469tips.com.
