PD Searching For Suspect In Brazen Motel Robbery

GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) - A manhunt is underway in Garland. Police there are trying to find the man who walked into a local motel, pulled out what appeared to be a semi-automatic weapon and robbed a clerk working alone.

Police aren't sure how the armed robber arrived at the motel, but he walked in just before 11 p.m. on July 22.

The clerk working at the Motel 6, in the 12000 block of the LBJ Freeway, was sitting at the front desk computer when the robber put a weapon just inches away from his face.

The suspect demanded money and the clerk complied, giving him an undisclosed amount of cash.

After taking the money the robber put the weapon underneath his clothes and walked out of the motel. It isn't known if the suspect escaped on foot or had a vehicle waiting. The clerk wasn't injured.

The robber is described as an African American male with a thin build. At the time of the holdup he was wearing a hooded, gray-colored sweatshirt with the word "Navarro" on it. The suspect also had on a red undershirt beneath the sweatshirt and blue jogging pants with a white stripe.

Garland Police Department spokesman Joe Harn said, "If we can get his picture out there and somebody can identify him please call the Garland Crime Stoppers hotline."

Anyone with information about the motel robbery or the person seen in the video above is asked to call Garland Crime Stoppers at 972-276-TIPS or contact authorities online at garlandcrimestoppers.org. Anyone providing information will remain anonymous.
