PD Still Searching For Suspect In Murder Of Fitness Instructor Missy Bevers

MIDLOTHIAN (CBSDFW.COM) - Officials with the Midlothian Police Department say they are still diligently investigating the murder of fitness instructor Missy Bevers, but so far they still have no suspect/suspects in the case.
During a media event on Friday, Midlothian Assistant Chief Kevin Johnson said, "Despite the tips we've already received we continue to rely on the public's help."
Terri "Missy" Bevers, 45, was found dead inside the Creekside Church in Midlothian on the morning of April 18. Bevers was scheduled to hold a bootcamp at the church that morning. Her body was discovered by one of the fitness class participants. It was later determined that she died from a head wound.
Assistant Chief Johnson did say that none of Bevers family; friends or co-workers are considered suspects in the murder.
As it stands, investigators say all of the leads, generated from residential and commercial cameras, have been exhausted -- except one. Police say they'd like to speak to the owner/driver of a vehicle caught on camera.
"The last remaining lead involves a car that pulls into the SWFA Sporting Goods parking lot at approximately 2 a.m. They're seen pulling into the parking lot and leaving just a few minutes later," Johnson said. "We believe that car is a 2010 to 2012 Nisan Altima, it's light in color – possibly silver."
While police stress they don't think the car in question is involved in Bever's murder, they'd like to talk to the person/persons inside to see if they have any memory about that morning.
On Friday, police did give more information regarding the description of the suspect. They say that through forensic video reconstruction they have determined the individual stands somewhere between 5'2" and 5'7". While they don't know the gender or race of the individual, they say the person appears to have lighter skin.
Surveillance video of the suspect inside the church showed a person wearing what looks like "police tactical gear," including a helmet, vest and gloves. But police say the clothes aren't specific to any branch of law enforcement. Assistant Chief Johnson said, "It's been described as SWAT gear, it's been described as tactical gear, it's been described as ballistic gear, we don't want to commit to anything specific that we don't know for certain."
Johnson admitted the investigation has been difficult and frustrating. "We want an arrest as bad as anybody in this case. We want to bring that sense of safety back to the community and resolve this for the family as well as our community and the public in general."
The Assistant Chief said he is optimistic the murder case will be solved. "It's hard to get away with murder nowadays and we think that somebody eventually will know something and they'll come forward. As long as there's any possible work to be done we'll remain in an active mode. We don't expect that to end anytime soon, until we catch the killer."
