Dad Arrested After Making Terroristic Threats At Celina School
COLLIN COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - A North Texas father has been arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat at an elementary school.
Teachers and staff at Celina Elementary School said it wasn't unusual to see father Ronald Miller, 44, on campus, but they said his demeanor on one recent day was anything but usual.
After dropping off his child at the school, Miller reportedly went up to a greeter and told her he was a gunman, his target was inside the school, and she couldn't stop him.
Miller, who was unarmed, entered the school, went to the main office, and pointed at staffers telling them 'you're dead'.
"It was someone that she [school greeter] trusted and was certainly out of character for the individual," Celina ISD Superintendent Donny O'Dell said. "So, it stunned her, to say the least."
Staff members later told police Miller continued to "aggressively" propose threatening student situations, hypothetically using himself as the aggressor.
Miller left the school and was later arrested by police.
The school was never placed on lockdown or evacuated, and parents were not informed of the incident until the next day.
"I'm very angry," said parent Diana Wilson. "Our kids could have easily been killed over there."
Wilson, while not agreeing how Miller went about it, said she hopes this serves as a wake-up call to the school.
"He exposed to us some weaknesses that we have," said O'Dell. The superintendent said the schools security procedures will change as a result of this incident.
Miller, who has a second-grader attending the school, was booked in the Collin County Jail and is being held on a $75,000 bond.
