PD: Crowley Family Found Dead Is Likely Murder-Suicide
CROWLEY (CBSDFW.COM) - Crowley's police chief Luis Soler says the family of four found dead is likely a murder suicide, as a result of domestic violence, but the department is still waiting on confirmation from the medical examiner's office.
Soler identified all four people found Sunday night inside a Crowley home: 34-year-old Xiomara Leon, 18-year-old Linda Gonzalez and 13-year-old Yasmine Zavala. Police say Leon and Gonzalez were each shot several times. The teenage girl was strangled to death.
The fourth body found in the home, identified as 36-year-old Samuel Morales, appears to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Results from the medical examiner and forensic tests are still pending.
Police say Morales and Leon were in a four-year relationship. However, Morales was not the father of any of the younger murder victims. All of the victims, including the 9-year-old sole survivor, were the biological children of Leon. Police say the 9-year-old did not witness the much of the murders, but did see some of the aftermath. Police are not sure why he was left alive.
The bodies were found Sunday evening, but Soler says the murders happened in the daytime hours. The bodies of the victims were found in different locations of the home.
