PD Asks For Help Identifying Robber Who Beat Store Clerk
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Fort Worth are asking for help identifying a man who mercilessly beat a worker and robbed a convenience store on July 24, 2013.
The Robbery Unit is investigating the incident that took place at the Best Mart store, located in the 7300 block of Ederville Road.
Police say the suspect entered the store and walked around picking up items. The man then also grabbed several packages of cigarettes and attempted to leave without paying.
The convenience store clerk tried to stop the man by triggering a security lock on the door. When the suspect couldn't get out of the store he jumped over the counter and began beating the female clerk.
There were several customers inside the sore during the robbery and attack. Since they too were trapped in the store, police say they urged the clerk to let the robber out. After several attempts to open the door and returning to assault the clerk when he couldn't, the worker finally turned off the locking mechanism.
While she was injured from the beating, the convenience store clerk was not taken to the hospital.
The suspect is described as a Black male, standing between 5'10" and 6'1". The man had a thin build and at the time of the robbery had a neatly trimmed beard. When last seen the suspect was wearing a black baseball cap with a green or teal-colored logo, blue cargo style shorts and a white tank top.
Fort Worth police are asking that anyone who has information about the robbery and assault or who recognizes the suspect please call them. Authorites can be reached by calling Fort Worth police directly at 817-392-4370, calling Crime Stoppers at 817-469-TIPS (8477), or by dialing 911.
