Passenger Killed After SUV Drives Into Bridge Pillar In South Dallas
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The 21-year-old passenger in a Sport Utility Vehicle died Sunday morning after the driver sped into a concrete bridge pillar on northbound Interstate 35 in South Dallas.
Cedar Hill resident Eric McWhorter, 21, was killed upon impact when the SUV flew headfirst into the bridge while traveling northbound on Interstate 35 near Overton Road.
Kim Leach, Dallas County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman, said the driver was "travelling at a high rate of speed" and is in critical condition. He has not been identified.
There were no other vehicles involved in the accident, and Leach said it was too soon to tell if alcohol played a role.
