Parking Disruption At TCU Caused By Thursday Night Football

FORT WORTH (CBS11) - A rare Thursday night TCU football game led to some complaints about having normal, on campus parking routines disrupted.
"It was quite a rough morning," said Alex Yap, a student who commutes.
"It definitely added a level of difficulty," said Kelsey Ritchie who normally drives to class.
"It's been insane," said Sara Setia, a student from out of state who parks her car on campus.
The university needed parking for around 3,800 season ticket holders. Students and faculty who commute were told to start their commute thirty minutes early, park at Will Rogers Coliseum and take shuttle buses.
"For me leaving my house at 5:45, I did not get to campus until seven because my bus driver got lost," Yap said with a chuckle. "I would like look up every once in a while. And then I looked up and it was like I had no idea where we are. And so finally the driver admitted he was lost. So we helped him get back to where he was supposed to go."
Other's biked, hiked or found ways around the shuttle and parking congestion.
"My roommate dropped me off this morning because I had to be here early for work," Ritchie said. "And then she actually Ubered to campus. And then we Ubered back home. It was definitely difficult.
Students who live -- and park -- on the stadium side of campus were told to move their cars elsewhere.
"I had to park two days ago and I can't drive because I'm scared to lose my spot," Setia said. "I don't want to leave and then not have a spot and have to park really far."
Finding a place to park was, at times, as fierce a competition as on the football field.
"People are waiting and scavenging for spots," Setia said. "People will wait but people don't leave. And if they do they race each other to get a spot."
All the students we spoke with knew of faculty who canceled or cut classes short because of parking issues.
