Parishioners Of Tornado Damaged Church Celebrate Easter
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – A church damaged from the tornado on Tuesday celebrated Easter Sunday.
Just before dawn dozens from the congregation of St. Barnabas United Methodist Church came together to worship.
"It's usually only 20 to 30 people, but I think everybody wants to be here," Glenn Still a church member said.
Parishioners flocked to the front lawn looking for meaning. They prayed just a few feet away from their tornado battered church.
On Tuesday dozens of kids, teachers and church staff had to ride out the storm inside the church.
Sunday afternoon, an upside down tree next to the church still serves as a reminder of what happened.
"That tree is like our lives has been flipped upside down a little and we've been trying to find out what we are doing, but no one was hurt," Associate Pastor Mike Rodden said "We have been through so much and we need to remember there is hope."
The Easter holiday celebration continued inside the auditorium of Martin High School. Kids even got to enjoy an egg hunt there.
St. Barnabas's congregation was told it will take at least until June to rebuild the church. In the meantime, services will be held at the 7th Day Adventist church in Arlington.
