Pair Of 21-Year-Olds Die, 2 Others Injured In Garland Crash

GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) — Two 21-year-olds died after a car ran a stop sign and hit another vehicle early Saturday morning, according to police.
Garland police officers responded to the crash around 1 a.m. in the 3900 block of Lawler Road. Investigators say a black Honda Civic driving eastbound on Lawler Road ran a stop sign at Yale Boulevard and hit a red Toyota Solara, which was driving northbound on Yale Boulevard in the intersection, on the driver side. The driver and a passenger in the Honda died at the scene, while a third person in the Honda and the driver of the Toyota were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The two people who died have been identified as 21-year-old Martinez Henriquez, who police say was driving, and Mary Garcia, who was the same age. Both were Garland residents.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, but it does not seem like alcohol was a factor in the crash.
