Overturned Truck Spills Pipes On Dallas Highway
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - An overturned 18-wheeler created a traffic backup in Dallas early Thursday morning. The incident happened around 1:15 a.m. in the northbound connector of Interstate-45 leading to westbound Interstate-30.
According to Sgt. Christopher Dyer with the Dallas County Sheriff's Department, the load on the truck – huge metal pipes – shifted on the ramp, causing the truck to turn on its side and spill the pipes on the roadway and a median.
"We had a witness that said he was not going too fast," Dyer said. "The only thing we can gather from that is that his load shifted, causing his tractor trailer to go on its side."
The 18-wheeler was the only vehicle involved in the incident. There were no injuries.
Crews cleaned up the pipes and righted the 18-wheeler, clearing the scene at about 5:30 a.m. before the morning rush hour really picked up.
