(Video Shot By KRLD)
GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) - The westbound lanes of Interstate-30 in Garland were shut down early Tuesday morning after an 18-wheeler overturned along the highway. The crash happened just before 3:30 a.m. near Zion Road.
The truck was traveling from Memphis to Fort Worth carrying medical supplies, but nothing toxic. A small fuel spill was cleaned up quickly, and the 18-wheeler was righted at about 6:15 a.m. with the help of tow trucks. Authorities with the Garland Police Department said that the driver drifted over to the right and the trailer's tires were lifted up by the highway's guardrail, causing the 18-wheeler to overturn on its left side.
The highway is slowly opening up to traffic, but is expected to be busier than usual throughout Tuesday. Travelers are advised to plan ahead and seek alternate routes.
