Overnight Standoff Ends In Arrest Of Homicide Suspect

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) — A seven-hour standoff ended Saturday morning following a deadly shooting in Arlington.

Police said a man identified as 26-year-old Donald Hunting allegedly killed a woman at a duplex in the 600 block of Gemini Court at 8:45 p.m. Friday.

Hunting, who was in an adjacent duplex from where investigators believe the homicide took place, refused to speak with officers or surrender.

Witnesses told police Hunting may have had access to more firearms. Thus, neighbors were evacuated as a precaution as a SWAT team surrounded the residence and tried to negotiate with him. The American Red Cross provided drinks and food to displaced residents from the five surrounding duplexes that were evacuated.

Hunting was finally taken into custody at 4 a.m. Saturday and booked on one count of murder. Initial bond was set at $150,000, according to police.

The name of the victim was not released. Investigators believe she had been killed during a physical assault on Friday afternoon.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the actual cause of death and release her name once next of kin notifications have been made. The relationship between the deceased woman and the suspect is not immediately known.
