Police Chase Ends In Fiery Crash Outside Home

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A family in Arlington got the fright of their lives Monday night when a car rammed into their fence and burst into flames. The incident began shortly before 9:00 p.m. as a police chase in Fort Worth.
According to authorities, an officer pulled over the car's driver for failing to use a turn signal. But as the officer approached the vehicle, he saw an open container. That is when the driver took off and a chase started. Officers followed the suspect from Fort Worth into Arlington.
The suspect lost control of his car along Port Phillip Drive, located near Highway 360 and south of Interstate-20. The vehicle's front end slammed into a fence and the car burst into flames. The driver and his female passenger got out of the car safely, but were immediately placed into handcuffs and are now in jail. Their names have not yet been released.
The family inside of that home was watching television when the crash happened. Tam Huynh explained that it sounded like a gunshot. "I'm freaking out," Huynh said. "I just can't believe we're still alive."
However, this is not the first time that such an event has happened on Huynh's property. As bad as the charred debris looks, it was even worse last time. "It was closer. It's like, it hit all the way into the house," the homeowner recalled. "It's just so close to death, because last time it went all the way to my house. It knocked the wall. The kids were playing. Glass was flying."
While the Huynh family feels lucky to be alive, this incident may have been the last straw. After two crashes, Huynh explained that it might be time to move.
