Outdoor Warning Siren Malfunction Alarms Fort Worth Residents
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Outdoor warning sirens went off in East and North Fort Worth Thursday morning, causing concern for hundreds of residents who flooded police and fire dispatchers with calls.
Fort Worth Fire Department spokesman Richard Harrison blamed the problem on a "system malfunction," and said city officials "are looking into the problem."
The sirens went off around 6:45 a.m. and could be heard near I-30 and Oakland Boulevard and near I-35 and Golden Triangle Boulevard, said city spokesman Jason Lamers.
A team from the Office of Emergency Management was investigating the issue, Lamers said.
