Only Protests, No Decision On Charges For Former Officer Eric Casebolt

COLLIN COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - On the year anniversary of the McKinney pool party incident, protesters planned to gather outside the McKinney police station demanding the Collin County District Attorney's Office file criminal charges against former officer Eric Casebolt.
Last June, Casebolt along with other McKinney police officers responded to an unruly party at a Craig Ranch neighborhood pool.
Cell phone video captured Casebolt pulling a 14-year-old black girl to the ground and then pulling his gun on two other teenagers.
Under intense national scrutiny, Casebolt resigned shortly after the incident.
In January, the Texas Rangers turned its investigative finding over to the Collin County District Attorney's Office.
The DA's Office told CBS 11 News it is still "actively investigating" the case and hopes to have a decision on whether Casebolt will face criminal charges "in the near future," possibly as soon as the end of the month.
Kim T. Cole, the attorney for the teenage girl at the center of the pool party video, said the DA's Office has had more than enough time to make a decision.
"We will not rest until there is justice," Cole said. "The county's inaction on the case has tacitly condoned an officer slamming a young black girl to the ground and sitting on her."
