HUNTSVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) - He's one of the longest-serving prisoners to sit on Texas' death row.  Lester Bower spoke exclusively with CBS 11 News about a recent Supreme Court decision to once again put his execution on hold.

Bower was scheduled for execution in Huntsville last week when the U.S. Supreme Court placed a hold on Bower's lethal injection, after lawyers argued the former Arlington resident's decades on death row added up to a cruel form of punishment.

The now 67-year-old has had six appeal hearings over the years.  Thirty-one of those years have been spent inside Texas' designated units for death row inmates.

"There are people who are never going to be swayed," says Bower.  "The families of the victims will never be swayed."

Bower was convicted of a quadruple killing in 1983.  Four men murdered at a Grayson County ranch.

Wednesday, little has changed in Bower's claim of innocence.  "This is in the hands of my lawyers involved with whatever happens," says Bower.  "I'm prepared for that.  The way I look at it there are only three people who know the truth, my lord, family and friends. If you're not one of the three I don't care what you think."

The wife of one of the men murdered tells CBS11 she doesn't care if Bower rots in jail, but she believes he should face the fear of death, the same way her husband did.
