BILOXI, Miss (CBSDFW.COM) - Rap artist 'Afroman' was arrested Tuesday night after punching a fan on stage.

A viral video shows the musician performing at a show in Biloxi, Mississippi when a female fan begins dancing on the stage, when Afroman quickly turns and punches the unsuspecting fan in the face.

Joseph Edgar Foreman (aka Afroman) continued to play even after the woman hit the ground hard, bleeding and crying, until the house lights came on and the music stopped according to the gossip media outlet TMZ.

Reports say security helped the woman offstage, while police took Afroman away and handcuffed him outside the venue.

"This was a completely involuntary reflex reaction to people infringing on his stage space," a representative for Afroman said in a prepared statement. "It was uncharacteristic behavior that was initiated by outside uncontrolled forces." The rep blamed poor security at the venue, Kress Live.

The Biloxi Police Department arrest report read: "Mr. Foreman was arrested for Assault as a result of a Citizen's Affidavit, booked in, and released after paying a $330 bond."

Afroman had a big hit in 2000 with "Because I Got High."
