FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Police responded to an apparent murder-suicide at a home in the 2000 block of Castleview Drive in Fort Worth Sunday.
According to officials, an adult male was pronounced dead at the scene from what investigators suspect was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.
The other victim, a 38-year-old woman, was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Officials said the woman was shot in the shoulder and neck.
Fort Worth police said the woman had called 911 to report the shooting, and when she had a difficulty talking due to her injuries, she handed the phone to her eight-year-old daughter who told the 911 operator, "my dad shot my mom."
Neighbor Wilson Toledo said he rushed across the street when he heard the eight-year-old child Sunday screaming for help from her front yard.
Toledo said the child told him her father shot her mother and then shot himself.
"It's pretty traumatizing for the little girl. Something she is going to have to live with," said Toledo. "She saw every bit of it."
The identities of the victims have not been released.
Records show the couple recently filed for bankruptcy.
