ARLINGTON, TX (CBSDFW.COM) -- Arlington police confirmed one person was killed in a wreck on Westbound I-20 before Cooper Street.
Multiple vehicles were involved in the accident according to officials.
A report released by Arlington police says the crash happened after an SUV didn't have time to avoid a pallet in the road and ran over it. A Hundai behind the SUV swerved to avoid the pallet and hit the center median. That's when authorities say an 18-wheeler hit the Hundai, killing the male driver. A white pickup truck was also involved in the accident.
In addition to the death of the driver of the Hyndai, one person was treated at the scene.
Images from Chopper 11 showed traffic in the area was backed up prior to the accident scene as police rerouted traffic around the incident.
Arlington police closed the road for several hours before reopening it late Monday afternoon.
Authorities say there is no word at this time where the pallet came from.
