One Dead After Officer-Involved Shooting In Fort Worth

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Police shot and killed a driver after a traffic stop just north of the Stockyards in Fort Worth late Saturday.

Police said it began around 10:15 p.m. when officers responded to a shooting call in the 3100 block of North Pecan Street.

Officers were given a description of a suspect vehicle and found one matching that description a short time later.

"Officers approached the vehicle on foot and confronted the male driver who was the sole occupant," Fort Worth Police said in an emailed statement.  "The driver sped towards officers and, fearing for their safety and believing that an officer had been hit by the car, the remaining officers shot at the vehicle hitting the driver."

The victim died on scene and Fort Worth Police Major Case detectives are investigating.

He was identified as 22-year-old Quezada Sixto of Fort Worth.

The officer involved in the shooting has been put on administrative leave.  The condition of the original shooting victim was not known.

Police have not released if Sixto was the suspect in the original shooting.
