IRVING (CBS11) - Irving Police updated the charges against three brothers accused in the beating death of an elderly woman.
20-year-old Jesse Perkins has been charged with murder.
Police say he attacked 83-year-old Dessie Hancock at random, pushed her from her walker, then kicked and stomped her head.
18-year-old Thomas Perkins has been charged with Interference with Public Duties, Hindering Apprehension and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
19-year-old Edward Perkins was set free.
Police said Edward Perkins didn't officially commit a crime, though he witnessed the attack and left the scene without calling for aid.
The attack Friday landed Hancock in the ICU where she died Sunday.
"Nobody can understand it," said husband John Hancock. He sat by her bed for two days before life support was removed.
"That's the hardest and most unreal thing that's ever happened," Hancock said.
The couple had been married for more than 60 years. They raised two sons and an adopted daughter, and fostered a disabled son since he was 3 months old.
According to Hancock, his wife was walking to a friend's house Friday to invite her to an early dinner at Denny's when she was attacked at random. The Perkins brothers had been at that house. Hancock was assaulted, without warning, in the driveway.
"She was 83 years old,"said Hancock. "Walking on her walker. Didn't even know the boys."
Jesse Perkins and Thomas Perkins will be arraigned Tuesday morning.
