Oncor Crews Restoring Power in Oklahoma Amid Winter Storm Outages

El RENO, OKLAHOMA (CBSDFW.COM) - Nearly 100 Oncor employees and contractors are on the ground in Oklahoma this week, helping restore power to tens of thousands of people left in the cold for days after Winter Storm Delphi dropped a blanket freezing rain and ice on the Sooner State.
More than a dozen Oncor crews from across the company's service territory arrived early Sunday morning, welcomed by icy roads, toppled power poles and thankful customers of Oklahoma Gas and Electric.
As the ice has melted and re-froze, bulldozers have been required in mud-soaked areas so crews can gain access to damaged equipment and get the lights back on.
Mutual Assistance Programs allow for the sharing of resources and manpower in situations like this.
Oncor said in a news release, OG&E is a valued partner whose employees have traveled south to Texas on several occasions when Oncor has called on them.
Oncor says crews are working mainly in El Reno and have restored nearly the entire communities of Calumet and Union City. This includes a federal prison.
