Officer Leaves Hospital After Saginaw Shooting
FORT WORTH (AP) - A North Texas police officer shot while serving a capital murder warrant in the slaying of a 6-year-old girl has been discharged from a hospital.
Arlington police say Detective Charles Lodatto was released Monday afternoon nearly a week after being wounded while investigating the death of Alanna Gallagher.
The Saginaw girl's body was found July 1 wrapped in a tarp and dumped about a mile from her house. Officials say the girl was sexually assaulted and suffocated.
Officers on July 23 were serving a warrant at the Saginaw home of a neighbor -- 17-year-old Tyler Holder -- when he allegedly opened fire. An officer then shot Holder in the head. The teen is recovering in a hospital.
Holder also faces an attempted capital murder charge in the shooting of Lodatto.
