Off-Duty McKinney Officer Saves Citizen's Life
MCKINNEY (CBSDFW.COM) -- An off-duty McKinney police officer is credited with saving the life of a citizen in need of CPR.
According to the city, McKinney Police Corporal Melissa Taylor was enjoying a day off work when she noticed a citizen in distress in the parking lot of a local fast food restaurant. Taylor rushed to the citizen and began administering CPR.
The patient survived the incident and is now recovering.
In a note to Taylor, the patient's daughter expressed her gratitude for the officer's quick actions.
"The doctors say you saved his life. There are no words to express our gratitude."
McKinney Police are taking the opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of learning CPR.
"Bystander CPR saved this patient's life," commented McKinney Assistant Fire Chief Tim Mock. "Corporal Taylor's actions revived and kept this gentleman alive until emergency medical crews arrived."
