NRH School Opens Again After Fire
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (CBSDFW.COM) - Students at Holiday Heights Elementary School in North Richland Hills are returning to class on Monday after an unexpected vacation. An electrical fire last Wednesday shut down the Birdville Independent School District campus while crews cleaned up the mess.
The two-alarm blaze started in the early morning hours, before the school had opened for the day. School district officials blamed the fire on a small electrical problem in a janitor's closet. The district has not said exactly what parts of the campus were damaged, but the blaze was quickly contained by firefighters. Only a small portion of the school was touched by the flames. Nobody was injured during the incident.
Smoke and water damage were the larger issues that school district officials needed to address before opening up the campus for children.
The Birdville ISD has been offering updates for parents and students online, through the district's website and Facebook page.
Students will not have to make up the days that were missed due to the fire.
