North Tops South In High School All-Star Football Game

ARLINGTON (AP) - Marquis Jackson returned the opening kick 96 yards for a touchdown as the North All-Stars went on to dominate the South 38-14 Tuesday night in the Texas High School Coaches Association All-Star Football Game.

The North scored the game's first 17 points at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington Tuesday night, starting with Fort Worth Arlington Heights star's kickoff return.

The South cut the lead to 10 to open the third quarter, but the North scored the next 21 points.

Highland Park quarterback Jake Howeth, a Rice recruit, had a 1-yard run and an 18-yard touchdown pass to Granbury's Tyler Wright.

Frisco Liberty quarterback Malcolm Hill and Tyler Boyd of Daingerfield hooked up for the North's fourth offensive touchdown, a 45-yard pass and catch.

Jackson, who has signed to play wide receiver at Kansas, was selected the offensive most valuable player with three receptions for 60 yards.

Aledo defensive back Rylan Riney, the game's defensive MVP, capped the North's scoring with a 20-yard interception return for a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter.

Mykkele Thompson, a University of Texas recruit from Stevens High School, accounted for both of the South's touchdowns.

Thompson, a quarterback who also saw time at running back and wide receiver, caught a 29-yard pass from Montgomery's Tyler Bolfing. Thompson's 56-yard scoring run late in the fourth quarter represented the fifth-longest run in the history of the game's series, which began in 1935.

Thompson, the game's top rusher with 97 yards on 12 carries, had 145 total yards from scrimmage.

The South's Tyler Bolfing of Class 4A Montgomery was the game's top passing, connecting on 7-of-11 passes for 99 yards and an interception.
