More North TX Communities To Begin West Nile Virus Ground Spraying

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- Several more communities in North Texas were planning to spray for West Nile Virus after mosquito samples tested positive for the disease.
Richardson and Grand Prairie were set to begin spraying Thursday night. Tarrant County was set to join the efforts in unincorporated areas on Friday at 9 p.m.
Health officials were advising residents of these areas to stay indoors, keep pets inside and cover fish ponds during those times.
Tarrant County Public Health officials said they will focus on Southeast Tarrant County. They issued a notification to neighbors in the area and said they will continue notifications throughout the weekend. In their press release they provided links to several areas they intended to spray. Area 1 | Area 2 | Area 3
The Richardson Health Department said they will be spraying in the following areas:
- Coit Road east to Cottonwood Creek and Campbell Road south to Arapaho Road
- Bowser Road east to Jupiter Road and Arapaho Road south to Buckingham Road
- Plano Road east to the George Bush Turnpike and Renner Road south to Lookout Drive
Grand Prairie planned to spray in two areas bound by these streets:
- Mayfield Road on the north, S. Great Southwest Parkway on the east, Spartacus Drive and S. Forum Drive on the south and Daisy Lane and Parham Drive on the west.
- Red Oak Drive to the north, Martin Barnes Road on the east, Doryn Drive on the south and 360 NB Service Road on the west.
TCPH officials said residents should also take personal protective measures by routinely dumping standing water on their property, using repellent and dressing for dusk to dawn.
