North Texas Red Cross Sending Help To Colorado

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - About 20 North Texas volunteers are headed to Colorado to help the thousands that have been displaced by the deadly flooding.

As of Monday afternoon, nearly 12,000 people have been evacuated from their homes across 15 counties.

Early estimates show nearly 20,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed by the high waters.  More than 1,000 people are staying in American Red Cross shelters across the state, according to spokesperson Anita Foster.

Foster joined CBS 11 News at 4 to talk about how North Texans are helping with the rescue and recovery efforts.
